Fort Sanders Regional Wound Treatment and Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy

If you are suffering from a non-healing wound, you are not alone. Every year, chronic wounds caused by diabetes, poor circulation, and other conditions keep six million Americans from doing the things they love. Our experienced team of doctors and nurses is dedicated to treating wounds, including many that have resisted healing after months and years of traditional treatment. It’s all we do. In fact, most wound care patients are completely healed in just a few weeks!

The Fort Sanders Regional Wound Treatment and Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy offers Hyperbaric Oxygen (HBO) Therapy to aid in the healing process of diseased or damaged tissues. HBO services are offered on an outpatient basis only and are located adjacent to the hospital.

Our center offers advanced treatment that yields far better results than traditional care. Our program treats individuals on an inpatient and outpatient basis.

Fort Sanders Regional Inpatient Wound Care

The inpatient wound care program at Fort Sanders Regional is an invaluable resource to the medical center, Covenant Health and the community. The program has heightened awareness of nursing staff about the importance of early skin assessment, high-risk patient recognition, and preventative measures, as well as appropriate treatment protocols. The program was instrumental in achieving a 20% decrease in the number of overall acquired wounds for the year 2005.

How we do it

Our approach to wound care is to look at the big picture:

  • What is the patient’s current health status?
  • What caused the wound?
  • Why won’t it heal?
  • What lifestyle habits may affect the healing process?

When we find the answers, each patient receives a thorough health evaluation and an individualized treatment plan. Our medical professionals have advanced training in wound care and offer comprehensive services in one location.

For most patients, the result is rapid and complete wound healing. We will discuss your treatment with your primary care doctor and keep him/her updated on your progress, unless instructed otherwise. You will continue to see your doctor for your regular medical care.

  • Advanced wound healing
  • Increased oxygen delivery to injured tissue
  • Preservation of damaged tissue
  • Greater blood vessel formation
  • Improved infection control
  • Elimination and reduced effects of toxic substances
  • Most insurances cover HBO Therapy, including Medicare and Medicaid.
