Student Nurse Appreciation – Brittany Reeves

Posted on May 9, 2018 in Employee Feature

We can’t celebrate National Nurses Week without acknowledging our talented group of student nurses. Student nurses gain experience at Fort Sanders Regional while completing their education. These ambitious individuals are the future of the nursing profession and gain valuable knowledge while working alongside experienced nursing staff.

Today, we are spotlighting Brittany Reeves, a SNA in the critical care department. Brittany has chosen to continue her career at Fort Sanders Regional and has accepted a full-time position in critical care. Brittany chose to work at Fort Sanders Regional because of the “patient-centered care” her coworkers deliver to patients.

1.) How long have you worked at Fort Sanders Regional?

I have worked at Fort Sanders for one year as a student nurse associate (SNA) in the critical care department.

2.) What made you aspire to be a nurse?

I have always wanted to do something where I could help people and make a difference. I ultimately chose nursing because nurses have a lot of patient interaction. I love people and building relationships and nursing gives me a direct way to do this in my job every day.

3.) What floor will you be working on? Why did you choose that floor?

I have accepted a position as a RN in the critical care department where I worked as a SNA because I love the people I work with and the patients I care for every day. I also love the challenges that come along with working in an ICU environment. I have always loved helping people and I get to do that every day on the unit.

4.) Why do you enjoy working at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center?

I love working at Fort Sanders because I love the people I work with. Everyone at Fort Sanders is so caring and they love what they do. I can feel the passion for patient centered care from everyone I work with and it makes the environment so enjoyable to work in. I also love Covenant Health as an employer and everything they stand for.

5.) What is your favorite movie?

My favorite movie is Remember the Titans because it is a classic and I am a huge football fan.

6.) If you could eat one thing for the rest of your life what would it be?

I am a huge fan of Italian food so if I could eat one thing for the rest of my life it would be pasta or any Italian food really. My dream is to go to Italy just to eat Italian food for a week.
