Mandy Marshall stands in front of a treadmillThis week is National Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation Week and we are proud to recognize all of the members of our cardiac rehab team who keep our patients’ hearts strong and healthy. The professionals in cardiac rehab combine education, exercise and counseling to help heart patients regain their life back following a cardiac incident. Exercise physiologist Mandy Marshall truly loves working with her patients and is dedicated to helping them live healthier lives. Learn more about Mandy below.

Where are you from?

I have lived in Knoxville for 14 years and then before that Virginia. I claim both places.

How long have you worked at Fort Sanders Regional?

I have worked at Fort Sanders Regional since 2015, but have been with Covenant Health for a long time.

Tell us a little bit about your job at FSR?

Our job is to meet with patients on a one-on-one basis and find out what their current activity level is. We help them with exercises and gradually increase their exercise level as they progress. Our goal is to make our patient’s hearts and lungs stronger and to educate them on how they can continue their health journey. 

What attracted you to working in cardiac rehab?

I really enjoy helping people get better and helping them get healthier.

What do you enjoy the most about being working in cardiac rehab at FSR?

I love the patients here. The patients are awesome and are why I do my job.

What do you enjoy doing in your free time?

Playing with my dog, spending time with family and exercising.

What is your favorite food?

Chinese food and/or sushi

What kind of music do you listen to?

The Steve Miller Band is my favorite, but I like anything classic rock.
