For today’s Flashback Friday we are featuring Candy Stooksbury, an RN who works in Surgery and serves as our National Surgical Quality Improvement Program coordinator. Candy has had the opportunity to work in several departments over her 26 year period at Fort Sanders Regional, but currently manages our accreditation by the American College of Surgeons. Candy is thankful for the memories and her friendships with fellow coworkers who have made the last 26 years at Regional a treasured chapter in her career. Read more about Candy below.
1.) When did you start your career at Fort Sanders Regional?
I started working at FSR in 1993.
2.) Have you always worked in the same department?
No, I’ve had the opportunity to work on 7 North, Critical Care and Surgery
3.) What is one major thing related to your job that has changed significantly over the course of your career?
The patient’s length of stay has changed throughout the years.
4.) How has the hospital grown or changed since you were hired?
A major addition was when we built the Center for Advanced Medicine.
5.) What’s your favorite memory over the course of your time at Regional?
There are too many to pick just one favorite because I’ve made so many memories thanks to the great staff I’ve gotten to work with!
6.) What’s kept you at Regional over the last 25+ years?
My fellow employees and the relationships I have built with them
