FLAME Award Winner—Dawn Simcox

Dawn Simcox is our most recent winner of the Fort Sanders Regional FLAME award. Dawn is a physical therapist assistant in the acute care physical therapy department at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center. Recently, Dawn was caring for a patient who had been in the hospital for an extended amount of time and who was feeling dejected because of his long stay in the hospital, and she decided to take him outside for some fresh air to cheer him up.

Dawn’s nominator, a clinical social worker at Fort Sanders Regional, noticed her effort to go out of her way to improve this patient’s experience. Her nominator said, “Dawn is always very kind, considerate and professional and will do more than is necessary to assist patients. She is definitely a great representative of this facility.” Dawn’s seemingly small act of kindness made an impact on not only her patient but also her coworkers.
