Faces of the Fort: Cris Busic

Cris BusicIn today’s employee feature, we meet an established “Face of the Fort” who helps us provide the best care to our patients and community through our Admitting and Registration department. Let’s get to know Cris Busic, an insurance appeals coordinator who has been a long-time member of our Fort family and the Covenant Health team.

Where are you from?

I’m an Air Force brat, so we moved around a lot. I spent the most time as a child in Fort Walton Beach, Florida, and I graduated high school there.

How long have you worked at Fort Sanders Regional?

I’ve been with Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center for 19 years and with Covenant Health for 26 years.

Tell us a little bit about your job at Fort Sanders Regional.

In my job, I do outpatient scheduling, insurance verification and some pre-certifications for outpatient diagnostic scans.

How have you gotten to your position at Fort Sanders Regional?

I have worked in three Covenant Health facilities in my 26 years, and I have worn many hats through the years. I started at Fort Sanders Regional working on insurance appeals.

What do you enjoy most about working at Fort Sanders Regional?

My co-workers are like family, and I have the best director. It is a joy to come to work! Our ideas and input counts in the Financial Services department and that means a lot!

What do you enjoy doing in your free time?

I love boating on Douglas Lake and riding our Goldwing motorcycle with my husband Lance.

What is your favorite food?

Big Ed’s Pizza

What is your favorite movie?

Top Gun—I’m looking forward to the new Top Gun movie coming out soon!
