Jim Mead, a RN in critical care, is the recipient of the April DAISY Award. Jim was nominated for taking care of both Renée Engle’s mother and father, Wanza and Billy Corum, within a one-year period. It was so important to Renée that Jim be recognized that she and her husband drove from Georgia to attend his DAISY reception.
Renée noted that Jim is dedicated to his craft and is an excellent nurse who goes the extra mile to take care of his patients. Renée calls critical care Jim’s “niche,” saying he pays attention to every detail and does more than what is required from him to make both the patient and family feel comfortable. Renée remarked, “Jim is exceptional! There is not one thing he wasn’t willing to do to make it a good experience.” Both her and her parents feel “blessed to have Jim” and wanted others to know what a “true gem” we have at Fort Sanders Regional.
