As a Joint Commission Comprehensive Stroke Center, Fort Sanders offers state-of-the art care that maximizes recovery from stroke.  We are also the region’s leader in technology in areas such as bariatric surgery, robotic surgery and minimally invasive spine surgery. Our door-to-balloon times for heart attack patients are below the national average, and our hip fracture center offers advanced diagnosis, surgery and recovery procedures for hip patients.

  • Hooked On Heart Health

    Jeff Sharpe’s “big one” wasn’t a fish – it was a heart attack that left him unresponsive for more than four minutes. It took two shocks from the paddles, four stents and FSRMC’s 12-week, 36-session cardiac rehab program to set him on a new path to healthy living.

  • Resisting the Rest

    James Kaufman works in the Food Services department of Fort Sanders Regional. Surrounded by coffee containers in the hospital coffee shop, he remembers a time when even a good dose of caffeine couldn’t keep him alert.

  • Four Legged Happiness

    While each of our volunteers are different from the next, one group in particular stands out. These volunteers have wagging tails, wet noses and furry paws, and their job is to provide animal-assisted therapy to our patients.
