In our ongoing efforts to ensure we are providing excellent care, we ask that all patients bring all home medications, including inhalers and spacers, with them when coming to our emergency departments or when being admitted to any of our hospitals.


Beginning April 4, visitors and staff will be required to wear masks at all Covenant Health facilities and medical practices. To help conserve our supply of masks, we encourage you to bring a mask from home to wear. We appreciate your cooperation in protecting the health and safety of our patients and employees.

As a Joint Commission Comprehensive Stroke Center, Fort Sanders offers state-of-the art care that maximizes recovery from stroke.  We are also the region’s leader in technology in areas such as bariatric surgery, robotic surgery and minimally invasive spine surgery. Our door-to-balloon times for heart attack patients are below the national average, and our hip fracture center offers advanced diagnosis, surgery and recovery procedures for hip patients.

  • Visitation Policies: Coronavirus (COVID-19)

    4/4/2020: 3/20/2020: Between 10am and 5pm, public access is now restricted to the main lobby entrance off of Clinch Avenue, the Trustees Tower garage entrance and the emergency entrance off of Laurel Avenue.  Between 5pm and 10am, all patients must enter through the emergency entrance off of Laurel Avenue. 

  • The Third 25 Years: 1970-1994

    In the hospital’s third quarter (1970-1994), Fort Sanders Hospital had a lot of firsts–the first new CT scanner, hospice program, breast center and comprehensive cancer center in our area.     Eddie Evans suffered a pulmonary embolism in 2019, and after his diagnosis, the hospital’s Pulmonary Embolism Response Team (PERT) quickly went to work.

    Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center cut the ribbon on its newly constructed emergency department on Friday, Feb. 28, at an open house and celebration for community leaders, and hospital and Covenant Health leadership.
