Maternity Services We make your baby's first experience a beautiful one. At Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center, we know having a baby is one of life's most memorable events. The excitement, anticipation and the joy of taking a first glimpse at your new baby are just a few of the many feelings that all new mothers and fathers experience. Mothers delivering at Fort Sanders Regional enjoy newly renovated maternity services including: five triage rooms, for women who are experiencing problems or signs of early labor, thirteen ante-partum suites for women who need extended hospital stays prior to delivery, twelve labor and delivery suites, complete with showers or jacuzzis for maximum comfort during labor, and thirty-four post-partum rooms for new moms to recover and greet family members and well-wishers. All rooms feature comfortable furniture as well as gorgeous views of the downtown area, mountains or our roof-top gardens. In addition to patient room renovations, our nursery has a brand new look. Actually three nurseries in one, we feature a well-baby nursery, an observation nursery and an isolation nursery. The observation nursery is used for babies who need extra attention but do not need to be transferred to Children's Hospital. We've also renovated our family waiting area, surgical suites and conference rooms. Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center is connected to East Tennessee Children's Hospital (ETCH) by tunnel. Should your baby require the services of ETCH, a team of neonatal specialists can be at Regional within minutes. Fort Sanders Perinatal Center Fort Sanders Perinatal Center specializes in the care of women with high-risk pregnancies. The Center offers a variety of prenatal diagnostic and genetic testing, nutritional support, high-resolution and three-dimensional ultrasound and pre-conceptual and pregnancy consultations. The first in the area to be accredited by the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine for Obstetrical Ultrasound, Fort Sanders Perinatal Center features the latest treatments, new medicines and technologies to make your health and your baby's health a top priority. Perinatologists Drs. Perry Roussis, Gary Stephens and Joseph Bruner work very closely with neonatal specialists from East Tennessee Children's Hospital to coordinate services for babies needing extra attention.
