Radiation Oncology
Radiation therapy is a treatment used by physicians (called radiation oncologists) to treat a variety of cancers. Radiation oncologists use radiation therapy either as a primary treatment for tumors or in conjunction with other therapies (surgical, chemo, hormone, or a combination of these). It is used as palliative treatment (where cure is not possible but relief of symptoms or a slowdown of disease progression is attainable).
